CME Credit Information

The 23rd World Congress of Podiatry in Miami, Florida, USA from November 14-16, 2019 will offer a minimum of 15 CME credits to attendees.

The Congress will be accredited by the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, ASPS as the accreditation agency and the Canadian Council on Podiatric Medical Education for Continuing Education hours have been approved in accordance with all guidelines set forth.

Target Audience

The intended audience of the 2019 World Congress of Podiatry is Podiatrists, Podiatric Surgeons, Podiatric Residents and Students, and all health professionals with an interest in advancing their knowledge of foot and ankle treatment.

Learning Objectives

Understand advances in assessment and treatment of biomechanically related foot and ankle pathology to include:

    1. new and evolving theories of foot function
    2. alternative approaches and evaluation of their role in development of biomechanically induced foot pathology
    3. how evolving theories impact specific biomechanical therapy
    4. role of biomechanical force/pressure mapping systems related to foot and gait function using floor mat and in shoe systems
  1. Identify newer approaches and technology for evaluation and treatment of common and uncommon lower extremity dermatological pathology, to include:
    1. benign and malignant lesions
    2. pigmented lesions and onychomycosis
    3. role of dermoscopy in the clinical assessment of skin abnormalities
    4. appropriate techniques of skin biopsy
  2. Define imaging techniques for lower extremity pathology including plain film radiology, ultrasound, MRI, CT and nuclear imaging
  3. Describe the approach for pediatric patients including history and physical examination including biomechanical assessment
  4. Recognize educational advances currently used in modern podiatric medical education
  5. Evaluate new techniques, indications and outcomes for a variety of podiatric pathology including conservative and surgical management
  6. Describe the needs of Special Olympics athletes
  7. Identify the global impact of diabetic foot ulcers and complications to include:
    1. assessment of diabetic patients
    2. advances in diabetic foot and wound care
    3. prevention and patient education for diabetic patients
    4. multidisciplinary approach to the diabetic foot
  8. Evaluate the impact of podiatric medicine on public health  nationally and globally

Podiatric Physicians Accreditation Statement

The American Society of Podiatric Surgeons (ASPS) is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. ASPS has approved this activity for a maximum of 15 continuing education contact hours (CECH)*.

In accordance with the requirements of the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, ASPS is required to monitor educational session attendance for verification of CECH. Morning and afternoon sign-in forms will be available each day during the conference. Sign-in will be required on each form each day to verify attendance.

To ensure ASPS continues to provide a meaningful educational program and exceptional conference experience, ASPS requests all attendees to complete an overall conference evaluation to receive a CECH certificate. The evaluation form will be sent via email within one week of the conclusion of the conference.

*This number is based on attendance at all educational sessions. Sponsored hands-on workshops, meal symposia, and other industry sponsored activities are not included in CECH.

NOTE: CECH functions are for registered attendees only. The ASPS official policy is to provide attendees with a certificate of attendance that reflects only the number of CECH documented via sign-in forms. Sign-in at each session is required to receive the maximum CECH.

Certificate Instructions

Physical (paper) accreditation certificates will not be issued at this event.  Participants will receive an email within five (5 business days after the meeting with a link to complete the required evaluation.

CECH certificates will be delivered via email in PDF format within 3-5 business days after completion of the evaluation.

Requests for certificates after December 31, 2019 will incur a $50 administrative fee payable to ASPS.  Each registrant is responsible for reporting attendance to all appropriate boards and agencies requiring continuing education. Credits may be registered with state boards by providing a copy of your CECH certificate.
